Hi
At Surrey CC we have been developing our use of Proclass since last year. We've done a spend analysis etc and started reaping the benefits. However, we too had the problem with the existing Social Care categories. We had a major consultancy firm in doing some work with us in that area of spend, who came up with their own set, and I've just asked our managers to comment on how these might map to the SECE proposals above.
There were a few comments:
- we'd like to see respite care somewhere
- there's no Domiciliary Children's care?
- why have BME services when Proclass is 'specifically designed not to support policies' in this area?
All that said, we do welcome the initiative to develop this area.
I'm also pleased to see the numeric coding schema for categories, and am about to build that into my spend model.
I trust this helps - do drop a reply with contact details if you want to get in touch.
regards
Derek Lancaster
